Settlement & Mortgage Specialist - Help Australian Buyers Reach Settlement Day, Effortlessly
Location: Remote; Sri Lanka
Hours: Full-time – 5:30am - 1:30pm, IST Colombo time
Are you an experienced Settlement & Mortgage Specialist with strong communication skills and sharp attention to detail?
Join Elephant Teams as we expand our team in Sri Lanka, working directly with our valued clients in Australia and reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Lending in Australia. We are seeking a talented professional who can hit the ground running and manage finance applications and settlement workflows with minimal supervision.
In this role, you will take ownership of the loan lifecycle from initial lodgment through to final settlement, with a heavy focus on end-to-end settlement coordination, stakeholder management, and seamless deal execution.
Your Main Responsibilities
End-to-End Settlement Coordination:
- Settlement Management: Direct and manage the complete settlement coordination process from conditional approval through to final settlement
- Documentation & Contracts: Prepare, review, and verify all required legal documentation, contracts, loan approvals, and compliance requirements to ensure deals are settlement-ready .
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the main point of contact between buyers' agents, lenders, solicitors, conveyancers, mortgage brokers, and clients to confirm readiness and coordinate critical settlement dates .
- Proactive Tracking: Track application progress, manage key dates, and proactively address potential bottlenecks to prevent settlement delays .
- Audit & Records: Maintain accurate settlement records, audit trails, and strict compliance with legal, regulatory, and policy standards throughout
Pipeline & Workflow Management:
- Application Processing: Manage finance applications across residential and commercial loan facilities with high precision.
- Pipeline Supervision: Organise and oversee multiple loan pipelines concurrently in a structured, systematic manner to maintain momentum.
- Data & Administration: Execute administrative tasks, data entry, and file packaging with accuracy and high attention to detail
Credit Assessment & Compliance Support :
- Financial Review: Review financial documents, assess borrower creditworthiness, and assist in determining loan suitability.
- Policy Application: Apply knowledge of Australian banks’ lending policies and frameworks to ensure applications meet lender criteria.
Stakeholder Communication & Process Improvement
- Proactive Updates: Deliver structured, regular progress updates to clients and stakeholders, answering queries promptly and professionally.
- Process Enhancement: Proactively identify opportunities for workflow improvements to optimize settlement efficiency and elevate the client experience.
What Your Profile will Look like
Must have:
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in settlement coordination, loan processing, or mortgage broking support.
- Communication: Fluent written and spoken English with exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous precision in data entry, document verification, and compliance management.
- Technical Capability: Tech-savvy with a strong ability to learn new CRM systems and digital loan management tools quickly.
- Connectivity: Stable fiber internet connection with a minimum bandwidth of 50 Mbps.
Preferred:
- Australian Market Experience: Prior experience servicing Australian clients as a loan processor, credit analyst, or settlement coordinator.
- Industry Software Expertise: Hands-on experience with Australian mortgage software such as Apply Online or Infynity.
- Domain Knowledge: Background working within Australian Commercial Lending, Buyer’s Agency operations, or property broking environments.
- Policy Familiarity: Understanding of major Australian banks' lending policies, compliance frameworks, and settlement timelines.
